Luke Joseph

After increasing blood pressure readings, and protein spilling, this mom and her midwives decided to induce. Mom arrived to the hospital at around 5pm at 37 weeks gestation, and was a grand multip. Pitocin was started at about 7:30pm, and mom's water was broken at around midnight. Lori met this couple at the hospital at 12:30am and mom was sitting in bed breathing nicely through her contractions, while being supported by her midwife and dad. Within a half hour, contractions intensified, and mom did really well for 3 hours working through each contraction, though she had a couple of things that made this particularly challengin - a malpositioned baby which caused back labor, and being confined to the bed. We did hands and knees to get the baby to turn, but the baby would turn right back into posterior, and back labor continued. At about 4am, at 8 centimeters dilation, mom decided to get an epidural, which provided almost immediate relief for her. We switched her to a deep left lying position, where she rested for a good couple of hours. She was checked again at 6:30am, found to be complete, and within 2 contractions, she was holding baby Luke in her arms. Healthy and happy, mom and dad welcomed their newest addition to the world!! Congratulations!!
